Fabulous wares from talented Hudson Valley artisans will be showcased at Crafts on John Street the first Saturday of the Kingston Farmers’ Market. Unique and one-of-a-kind items are featured at this creative and artistic venue. In conjunction with Kingston’s Time Festival, our Storytelling Series begins with Native American male drummers called The Cloud Breakers Society perform for Market guests. The Native American singing troupe, The Red Feather Singers, will also be appearing, as will Native American dancers while they weave their history and storytelling into their performances.

Spend the morning at the Kingston Farmers’ Market with the Chambers Elementary School Garden Club. Garden Club members will discuss how the students chose the plants for their differing “flavors” in their garden beds at school. The themed beds include a soup bed, pizza bed, salad bed and medicinal bed; and they’ve added a butterfly garden. Find out how these students raised the money for their project as well as the awareness in the surrounding community. This Saturday, meet City of Kingston Historian, Edwin M. Ford, who will be signing his latest book, “Street Whys: Anecdotes and Lore of Kingston, New York.” The book has been compiled from more than a half century of his research. The Tomato Festival is also happening this weekend at the Kingston Farmers’ Market. Come sample the different varieties of tomatoes and learn the secrets farmers and chefs have long known.
