Author Celebrated Author Sherri Brooks Vinton visited the market in Uptown Kingston on June 8th.

Vinton shared her story of how she fell in love with the art of preserving. Her new book, Put 'em Up! Fruit, available from Storey Publishing, expresses that passion with 80 recipes for preserving fruit and 80 creative ways to cook with those preserves.And with step-by-step instructions for the techniques you'll need to make the most of your harvest, this guide will bring a little bit of summer sunshine into your cooking, any time of year.

Midtown Farmers Market

The Kingston Farmers' Midtown Market is located between Henry Street and the Ulster Performing Arts Center. Shop the Midtown Market's farm-to-table vendors. The Kingston Farmers' Market has been chosen as a destination in the article,
"30 Great Last-Minute Summer Road Trips," featured on page 17 in the August issue of AAA's Car & Travel Magazine. See the article.

For our inaugural post we introduced Tamar Adler and her book Everlasting Meal. Check out the first chapter of the book and the accompanying video below. Tamar appeared at the Market on Saturday, June 30th and did a cooking demonstration and talked a bit about her new book. 


Winter Market: January 18th

The Saturday, January 18th, The Kingston Farmers’ Winter Market offers their 2nd Cooking Education Series: Farmers' Market Cooking. Each class covers different basic cooking techniques. Classes will also teach budget friendly tips such as how to preserve produce so that you enjoy locally grown food while saving money all year long. These are hands-on classes where you'll be learning tricks of the trade from a professional cook and Culinary Institute of America graduate. The classes are held in the kitchen of the Old Dutch Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on the 3rd Saturday of the month (Feb 15th, Mar 15, & April 19th). Classes are $30 each and space is limited, please email: to register.

Enjoy the Kingston Farmers' Winter Market where almost 20 vendors offer items such as: bread & baked goods, fresh fish, meat & eggs, fruits & vegetables, gourmet peanut butter, local wine, honey, and so much more. Located in Bethany Hall of the majestic Old Dutch Church, at 272 Wall Street in the Historic Stockade District of Uptown Kingston, the Market will continue on the 1st & 3rd Saturdays of each month from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. through April. Remember, you can still buy local & fresh throughout winter.
